Problem SolvingĀ

Charlie and Eddie had a tricky problem to solve in maths today. If a spider climbs up a 30 metre building and each day he climbs 5 metres but slides back down 1 metre, how long will it take the spider to reach the top?

They worked brilliantly together and solved the problem.

Amazing Openers

This morning in Year 2 the children started to write the opening of their story based on our class clip. They are all fantastic but we were especially impressed with Daisy and Ray who used fantastic vocabulary choices to really set the scene. Here they are looking very pleased with themselves.

School Councillors

The children across the school were asked to vote for the children in their class that would make the best school councillors.  Mr Clark announced the names of the children with the most votes in assembly this morning, which was very exciting! We are pleased to announce the two children that will represent our class this year are Freddie and Ethan. I am sure that they will make fantastic school councillors.

What did we find?

Today in Year 2 the children looked carefully at the items that were found on the beach during our trip. They wanted to find out which item was the most popular so they counted the items and recorded their data in a tally chart. They then converted this into a pictograph. Mrs Waters was extremely impressed!

It was lovely to see all of the children back after the summer break. Despite the rain, we had a lovely morning at Sandilands listening to a presentation from the RNLI and beachcombing. The children found so many exciting things which they brought back to the classroom to explore further. During the afternoon the children used pastels to create their own beach hut pictures inspired by our trip.
